Investment Banking Director

All-in compensation ($300K – $1MM) with the ability to earn into high 7 figures and beyond through a small base salary, aggressive graduating and uncapped commission structure, plus discretionary company profit-sharing bonus.

Job description:

    • Develop strong relationships with external centers of influence, industry participants, and the firm’s established referral partners
    • Represent the firm at marketing and networking events to continue to expand market presence and secure new client relationships
    • Proactively identify, qualify, and generate new prospect leads
    • Assess client financial and personal needs and develop a needs-based solution framework that best services the client
    • Serve as a transaction lead and point of contact to become the trusted transaction advisor, create a raving fan for life.
    • Provide direction and vision for team members for client pitches, offering materials, models, management presentations, and other materials
    • Responsible for driving and meeting timelines
    • Mentor, lead, and develop junior team members
    • Target a specific industry vertical and develop thought leadership in the targeted sector
    • Participate in firmwide initiatives and other duties as requested

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university; MBA, CFA, CPA or other advanced degrees/credentials desirable
    • 7+ years of experience (including origination and execution experience)
    • Fundamental understanding of core M&A concepts, including valuation methodologies, process dynamics, and legal deal terms
    • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
    • Self-driven with the ability to manage diverse engagement teams and clients
    • Strong professional communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to succinctly express complex ideas both orally and in writing
    • Exceptional attention to detail
    • Team-oriented, an ability to react to changes, and solve critical issues
    • FINRA Series 79 and 63 required; Series 24 desirable

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Senior Associate to join our expanding team. This key leadership role is integral to running complex M&A and capital raise transactions, managing a team of analysts and associates, and embracing new technologies to enhance productivity and deal execution. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead M&A and Capital Raise Transactions: Oversee the entire transaction process from origination to close, ensuring smooth communication and execution across all stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of analysts and associates, encouraging a collaborative and results-oriented environment. Lead team members who are both local and remote.
  • Technology-Driven Productivity: Embrace and integrate AI tools such as LLMs and GPTs to streamline workflows, automate complex tasks, and significantly boost the firm’s efficiency in executing deals.
  • Execution and Transaction Management: Take ownership of transaction materials, including pitch decks, marketing documents, financial models, and valuations. Ensure top-tier quality and precision in all deliverables.
  • Strategic Client Advisory: Provide actionable insights to clients, driven by deep industry research and financial analysis, supporting their strategic objectives throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Business Development and Growth: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop new business opportunities, utilizing Forbes Partners’ vast network of strategic acquirers, private equity groups, and non-traditional lenders.
  • Process Optimization: Leverage Forbes’ rigorous, model-driven process to ensure that the firm only takes on high-quality deals, maintaining our reputation for high closing rates and outstanding outcomes.
  • Firm-Building: All team members are encouraged to assist in recruiting, cultural initiatives, networking events, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of investment banking experience with a focus on M&A and capital raising on no fewer than 15 mandates, preferably in middle-market transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and close transactions independently, with a client-centric approach.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior team members, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • Excellent proficiency in financial modeling, valuations, and transaction material preparation.
  • Proven ability to leverage advanced technology such as LLMs and GPTs to enhance productivity and execution efficiency.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and delivering best-in-class results.
  • MBA, CFA, or equivalent professional designation is a plus but not required.

Summer Analyst Internship Program

About the Program

Forbes Partners, a leading investment banking firm with offices in Colorado, Utah, and North Carolina, is accepting applications for its Summer Analyst Internship Program. This 12-week program provides hands-on exposure to a career in investment banking.

Summer Analysts work directly alongside deal teams on mergers and acquisitions, capital formation, and strategic advisory engagements. Analysts are expected to commit the time necessary to effectively fulfill their responsibilities, requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week in our collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Major in business, finance, economics, or a related discipline (STEM majors also encouraged to apply) with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
  • Strong financial acumen and general knowledge of accounting and valuation principles.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with data visualization, CRM systems, or financial modeling tools is a plus.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for technology and intellectual curiosity about emerging tools such as artificial intelligence and data analytics in business decision-making.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and written / verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, judgment, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Collaborative mindset and team-oriented attitude.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct market and company research, supporting the creation of pitch books, confidential information memorandums, presentations, and other client materials.
  • Assist deal teams with financial analyses, including valuation, benchmarking, and industry mapping.
  • Support business development initiatives and the preparation of client proposals.
  • Maintain and update contact and deal databases for specific transaction teams.
  • Contribute to process improvement and data organization initiatives within the firm’s knowledge systems.
  • Capstone: Summer Analysts will complete an AI/technology-enhancement project, exploring practical applications of technology and automation within investment banking (e.g., improving data efficiency, presentation automation, market intelligence tracking, etc.).
